Server Hostname users.conninc.com
Your URL http://users.conninc.com/username

Always read your chosen FTP client's help files! There's lots of different ways to FTP a file, and we can't learn them all. Our support for FTP accounts extend only to ensuring that your account is working and accessible by our staff.

  2. Note on FrontPage: Frontpage asks for a root username and password on install. If you do not have your ftp account set up, and your username and password do not match what you entered in Frontpage, you will have to reinstall Frontpage to enter the correct information. Please remember that this free web space does not include executable programs, Frontpage extensions or a shell account. If you desire more functionality, check out one of our virtual hosting plans!

  3. When you put your files in your user directory, you must name the page you want people to see first default.htm If you do not have this file present, you will get a Directory Listing Denied message when you access your URL. The web server looks for default.htm and displays it.

  4. You can create subdirectories in your user directory. If you add an images directory to your home directory, it would be accessed in the following way: http://users.conninc.com/username/images - Many popular FTP clients will allow you to create directories in your web site.

  5. Only users dialed into Connect may FTP into the server. Anyone in the world may still view your web page, however. This is done for security purposes.

  6. Maintaining your web page may be easier if you understand that you are simply copying files from one computer to another. Files are sorted into directories on your computer and you are putting them into onto ours. Look at the image below to see how these files can be laid out. This is an image from CuteFTP - It's just like Windows Explorer.

  7. We highly recommend buying a Book on HTML Design or FTP if you plan to use your free space for advanced design or business. Connect Internet support can only guarantee that your web space is functional and accessible to you.
